Volunteer Commitment
In addition to the requirements below, we ask that our volunteers are legitimately interested and engaged with and about Global Balajar. This makes it a more meaningful experience for everyone involved.
-
1.5 hours biweekly (this will be slightly more when you create your English Language Topic presentation/Discussion Guide)
-
There are presentations of some type occurring every week but you are only asked to come to about every other one
-

-
Dates are TBD but flexible
-
Most presentations will begin at 21:00 pm MST (9:00 pm MST) and end around 22-22:30 pm MST (10:00/10:30 pm MST) due to Indonesia being 13 hours ahead of Colorado
-
Ideally, presentations should occur on Friday or Saturday Nights
-
You choose the date that you would like to present
-

-
MUST create at least one presentation about an English Language Topic. You will be able to choose from a list of pre-set topics or create your own if you are selected.
-
The presentation can range from 10-20 slides as a guideline
-
You can use powerpoints, google slides, ect. to create your presentation
-
You should use examples, pictures, and make your presentation as engaging as possible
-

-
MUST help in creating a Cultural Discussion Guideline for the second half of your presentation (the outline is already there for you)
-
Create vocab, discussion questions, a mini-workshop, and list resources that other participants can view BEFORE your presentation
-

-
MUST show up to at least 8 Culture Discussion segments. This means you need to show up to the second half of 8 of the other participant’s presentations to help lead the discussion topics. Participants will be grouped in zoom rooms and facilitate the discussion around the week's topic. You are also expected to create a short 5-minute presentation to introduce the cultural discussion topic if it is your day to present. The Discussion topic portion of our events are intended to be open-ended conversations with the Indonesians in your breakout room that broadens horizons and creates a bridge between Indonesia and the US.
